Now that the circus has paraded through.

You can't beat Holland and Holland. Period. Anything they produced for Royalty and the Uber Riche will blow away anything you can find. And they work too. :D

Here is an example of one of their .375 H&H Magnum Double Rifles used for Elephant Hunting.

Having never even heard of .375 H&H Magnum, I looked for ammo, actually not too bad, between $45 and $75 a box of 20.

Somehow, I thought it would be in .50 cal, $4 apiece range.....

pshhhh, JD...

I present to you the lipstick on the pig....

All kidding aside. Along the lines of the Holland and Holland rifles, James Purdy & Sons made some pretty amazing looking shotguns. These recently went for about $400,000 for the pair I think.

300gr SP bullet travelling at 2600fps generates 4500ft/lbs at the muzzle. Hits like an express train; the vitals of this Springbok were turned to mush, and I could fit my fist into the exit wound

if he is hunting in the springbok natural habitat the gun isnt so much for the springbok but the things that that eat the springbok... it just works double duty.

the holland and holland a couple of posts up is a double rifle not a shotgun. they are pricey because each part is hand made and hand fitted the barrels are tuned to fire in concert with each other.

JD said that it was a double rifle in his post.

While H&H also makes very fine double barreled shotguns, the one I linked and pictured is one of their double rifles, which are more rare, and thus fitting this category.

From the description:

Quote:

Magnificent Best sidelock “Royal Ejector” double rifle in .375 H&H flanged magnum, completed in 1995. Weight: 9 lbs. 2oz. Stock with 14 ½” LOP. Superb 24” chopper lump steel barrels with mint bores have a quarter rib and ramp front sight.

Factoid, a week before I got there a hude leopard had scaled/jumped the 12 ft electric fence surrounding the game park and started devouring wildebeests
I didn't feel overgunned for 1 second!

Nah, Breaker reputedly said "Shoot straight, ya bastards. Don't make a mess of it". Unfortunately for him, the firing squad did shoot straight and he was killed in Pretoria in 1902.

Sorry for the hijack BB :o
