I collect pocket knives; coke-bottle designs are my favorites.

And I collect silver coins. That's strictly for value though. Not really a numismatist.

And guns, although I still feel like I really haven't started that yet. Maybe once I buy my first S&W Model 3 I'll feel like I'm actually starting a collection.

I used to collect antiques but I sold quite a few of them. I do a lot of work on historic buildings and I find a ton of neat stuff in the walls or ceilings. I just sold 4 pabst blue ribbon cans from 1939 in mint condition. I found them under some old insulation in a school that was being torn down. I collect guns obviously as well. Hmm what else? Every year for Xmas my dad buys me a die cast model hot rod or exotic car so I guess you could say I collect those too. It's something he's been doing since I was a kid, god bless him. Other than that, I don't really "collect" anything. If I had more money, I'd like to collect antique medical equipment. Neat stuff.

^^^ That's a helluva lots stuff for one guy to collect.
I don't see what the problem is. Everybody is being nice, and getting along, and I, for one, am learning stuff. So, if you don't like the discussion, don't look at the thread. Or, simply cut to the chase, and close it.
Is there an age limit for a thread, after which we kill it?

With that logic, I apparently collect fishing poles, Plano / flambeau utility boxes and paint cans that may or may not have anything in them.

First thing I started collecting was 45 RPM records in 1963. I really got a bunch working after school at the local radio station. I kept winning all the "first caller to name the artist" contests that they had me work in the back room sorting records and paid me with duplicate 45s. (It was great and they kept me from winning the contests.) Anyway I bought plenty, too - have over 2,000 old school Rock'n'Roll/R&B and a lot of LPs as well.
The biggest issue with assembling an AR isn't so much getting the parts together right - it's getting the right parts together.

Fossils, books, critters (apparently, judging from the herds around us.

I'm starting to collect things. I've got a bunch of knives that I've bought over the last few years, and there are at least twice as many that I want

Guns (obviously)

Zippo lighters

Silver dollars. I also want to buy some old colonial coins eventually.

A ton of stuff from Scouts, some of the trips I went on and awards I received
