What? You've never seen the dress uniform of the Supreme Allied Commander of the 8 Legion from Lunar Company 5?

I think I have either 8 or 9 ribbons. I warrant having the combat action ribbon from Iraq. I was a Marine in Iraq attached to a reserve Army Infantry unit. Saw some combat, but not door-to-door Fallujah combat. But becuase I was with the Army, I submitted the appropriate paperwork along with the 2 other Marines attached to the squad. But because of the whole interservice bureaucracy plus that fact that they were a reserve unit from Minnesota, we never received the commodations for the combat action ribbon. And beause of the respect for the military and the uniform, I never put the ribbon on my holder, not even for my personal shadow board that I hope to someday build. Ive been out for almost 5 years and I keep saying that Im going to get around to doing that, but is life.

Has the USAF changed their insignia that radically since I was in? In olden times you didn't get your Senior Master stripe until you made Master (6 under, one over). Or maybe he's just that damned good, he skipped a rank!

Boteme,

Yes the AF did change the rank insignia for Master Sgt, now Master has three up, two down and a rafter. They decided that Master was part of the top three so they designate that by the rafters.. one for Master, two for Senior and three for Chief.
