State Mythology Series: Oregon
1) Best indigenous food
Seafood
2) Biggest plus to living there
No sales tax. Pretty scenery
3) Biggest minus
Kalifornians evertwhere
4) Weirdest wildlife
Nutria
5) A word or phrase that an outsider wouldn't understand
none
6) Local boy or girl who made good.
Randy Coture. Tonya Harding
7) Gun laws
typical laws and waiting periods
8) Biggest misconception the rest of us might have about your state
Loggers and rednecks. Portland is the most technologically wired city in the U.S.
9) The thing an outsider should never do
With only a 30% indigenous population, the better question is what have the outsiders NOT done?
10) Restaurant
Same as anywhere, yet nothing awesome

Weird, i thought Nutria were a Southern swamp thing, as in LA, MS, FL, etc. Do people use them for target practice up there?

what, there's a vague resemblence there
Of course it doesn't hold a candle to the 'John Holmes' gooey duck here,
....'Say, is that a Gooeyduck in ur pocket, or are ya just happy to see me?'

Born in Portland, raised in Clackamas. I love the city, and of course the mountain and coastal areas. In between snowboarding and concerts, I made a fair living at Spirit Mountain.

Very cool. So are you still in the area? That's one of the things that brought my wife out here to stay...an hour in any direction, you have the greatest skiing/snowboarding on Mt Hood, the best wind-surfing in Hood River, dune running at Florence, the best and most accessible coast on the west coast, some of the best vineyards in the US in the Willamette Valley, so just about any which way you go, there is some of the best of things to do. Not to mention lots of places still to go shooting
But we'll have to keep that quiet...don't need any more Kalifornians up here or Washingtonians getting ideas of coming down for anything more than Costco shopping Ya'll can come and spend all ur money - then leave

I had family in Klameth Falls area (BLY) that raised Paint horses and his son was a 2 time NFR champ in bare back and saddle bronc ridding. I think he daughter even made it to the NFR of barrel racing.
