Took another bus through there on the way to Benning, every 2 miles on the highway was a sign welcoming us to South of the Border, with a little Mexican guy (Pedro?).

It is/was apparently a large bargain shop where anything from fireworks to katanas could be had.

I'm intrigued with the monkey island, though.

My wife would like to add that Blackbeard is from NC and his real name was Edward Teach. Her 3rd grade teacher was related to him. It's true.

Benning, you are aware that south of the border is actually in South Carolina, North Carolina only has all the billboards and they start just below the Virginia State line on I-95.

yea a pharmacutical company owns a small island where they let the monkeys live and breed. every once in awhile they go in with tranquilizer guns and get some for experiments.

there are also wild horses on some of the islands.

south of the border is like a really big dollar general with fire works
