Default Sound Suppressor

I tried to post this in the gunsmithing section, but it said I don't have permission..

Just curious...
Can a sound suppressor be made for a shotgun by drilling holes in the last 10 inches of the barrel and making a 3" tube over the holes and secured on both ends? Same princaple as rifles and pistols. I know it isn't a safe setup, but will it work? I don't have any intention of doing this, just wondering.

That sounds VERY dangerous. Please don't consider doing this. There will be pellets EVERYWHERE!

trying to make your own surpressors without the proper federal licensing will allow you lots of free time for sports

I woudn't try making one myself altough it's legal in my country, but there are commercial options.

From the UK:
Hushpower Shotguns, Modifications and Kits

Baikal IJ-18 with a supressor that's being sold in Finland:
Eräliike Riistamaa verkkokauppa - Baikal IJ-18 410/76 vaimennettu

BATF's position is that IF you do anything that measureably reduces the sound of your firearm when discharges.....it is a suppressor and you must register it and pay a one time $ 200 transfer tax.......or go to jail !

Yea....almost. you forgot about the ffl manufacturers license required for the build.
