Default Son in law and new Grandson

I have my first grandchild due in 6 weeks, and it is a boy. I have some things that this august group will have opinions and/or experience with, and some things that will cause a chuckle or two.

My Daughter and Son in law want me to get a Whooping Cough immunization shot. Now I say bullfeathers for a couple of reasons. One, who can remember that far back, and the family doc is dead now, but I may have had it. The other is, I am 65 and have no intention of taking an immunization, particularly since in am 65, and do not trust the claims that this is a safe immunization. I remember after our son's first we never gave him another whooping cough immunization, or our daughter.

The other is, I have an SR22 for the boy, and intend to teach him shooting and the love of firearms. My Son in law is a true liberal and Obama supporter (lower case intentional). My daughter carries, so I think I will win this one. Also, I am going to teach the lad to ice skate, and introduce him to ice hockey. Cannot wait to do that.

Teach the boy to shoot and love hockey. If it works it will be nirvana!

Congrads on your New Grandson not being flushed by a Liberal, must be your Daughters influence not you SIL! The good new is that having a baby is the first possible fix for your SIL being Liberal, babies change things in many folks! His natural instinct to protect his family can be a real game changer, seen it before and lately. A young Colleague of mine just had his first baby and since has bout his first through fourth guns and is now verging on becoming almost conservative. Hell, He skipped two Dave Mathews shows in a row last weekend to work, there is hope for him and your SIL!

Ive heard of an uptick in Whooping Cough but havent seen it here. Seems like the risk lies more in your likelihood of exposure and immune system being healthy than your age. If your healthy, dont hang out in daycare centers, hospitals and Schools, I think your risks of contracting it is petty low (But im not a doctor, cant say for sure). Im prolly not going to get any more vaccines if I can help it but I hate needles and having crap I cant identify pumped into my body to fix something that isnt broken. There are already enough really broken things to deal with, I would work on them!
