Default SHTF Tips and tricks

We all have our ways of surviving such an event. Please post your tips and tricks here. It can only be helpful. I will start.
If you find yourself out with your shottie loaded with bird shot and you come across a bear or zombie cut the shell all the way round in the center of the wad leaving a connection of 1/4 inch. It will fire as a slug and bale you out of the Sh**. It only takes 2 seconds and may save your life. Is no hassle to keep a couple pre cut. Never try to load these in a magazine only a one off fire or 2 in a double barrel

Survival is everything

Great idea for a thread Davy, but a couple of pictures could be INVALUABLE for some folks who might be reading this and never seen this trick done before.

Default Fire starting

Is the biggest challenge to modern hunters. Both kids and wife have been taught this.

Want to start a fire with wet leaves with one hand?

Get some potassium permanganate and common glycerin. Pour a half-dollar size mount of potassium permanganate on your wet leaves. Make a dimple in the center. Pour glycerin into the dimple. Wait 10-20 seconds. Have plenty of kindling and firewood on hand first.

(These chemicals are cheap and legal to buy.)
