I was looking for your comment because I figured a Cajun would have a good shrimp recipe. Instead, I got a history lesson. I never knew Cajuns used to be Acadians and were "cleansed" by the British and New Englanders. Here I always thought Cajuns were just somehow cut off from the other French in Quebec, etc. - and btw, didn't develop into the same lazy, whining slackers that now inhabit Quebec and take billions from Alberta every year. Not so. I was wrong about that connection. I looked it up.

Thanks for the correction, willshoum. You learn somethin' new everyday....or should, anyway.

one way my stepmother use to cook shrimp was what she called cold boiled shrimp. she boiled in some type of spices, then drained it, packed in with ice until cold, then put it on a platter, served with her own homemade coctail sauce. first time i ate it, i was a little unsure if i would like it. now if i get started eating it, it's hard to stop!
Axxe maybe it was this?

If you by fresh bait it's the same as thoughs you buy to eat. The difference is you are going to pay a higher price for the bait shrimp. And if you don't catch any fish you can still eat the bait. I've been eating sh$t all my life, so a little more in the shrimp, crawfish doesn't bother me........

We Yanks may not know how to eat shellfish, but somehow last week, my lovely wife & I, were able to jam Blue Claw Crabs, steamed with Old Bay, scallops wrapped in bacon & broiled, drunken little neck clams, and shrimp boiled in pickling seasoning, beer & Old Bay, down our pie holes.

Above seafood was accompanied by pitchers of Yuengling Lager, Old Bay fries & cole slaw.

I'll suffer thru that anytime!
