How about a nice, long, refreshing hike in the woods? I know there has to be some trails somewhere.

There is an outdoor range or two but you have to be a member to shoot there. They are open to the public maybe one day a month. And I'll skip the hike in the woods. It's pretty darned cold out. For shooting outdoors or hiking.

JimRau and I have met up and shot a little but so far he is the only person I've met from ftf. I really hope I'm able to go to the shoot and hoot in march, and I'm always up for shooting if anybody is ever around my neck of the woods in north Alabama. Don't even have to worry about a range, just step into the backyard and go to blastin.

Today's adventure so far..........we went to Bass Pro Shop. I had never been in one so that was quite the adventure for me. We spent a lot of time just looking around. Now I'm making Chicken and Dumplings and we're going to watch a movie or two and drink some Mead.

Today's happenings......Balota fixed some drawers in my kitchen that were pretty darned rickety. He also fixed a couple of wobbly kitchen chairs for me. When he got done with all that work he grilled some steaks on the ole Weber Kettle grill and I made some home made mashed potatoes and some corn. We had a nice Cabernet Sauvegnon with dinner. Then we went for a drive to see a large home that has an awesome light display coordinated to music you tune into your car radio station.

We also visited my Dad and by sheer coincidence we saw my Dad's caregiver at a restaurant we went to for lunch.

We're each heading to bed early as he has a long drive home tomorrow and I have to get up early to get my granddaughter to school. After I drop the little one off I'm taking Balota out for breakfast as a thanks for a wonderful week. It's been so nice to have an out of town guest for a week. Who's next?

That sounds like a great time Winds. You needed a break.

Oh, yeah. I forgot to mention Balota also unjammed my garbage disposal. Who'd a thunk you can't grind nails in there. I was putting some curtains up over the kitchen sink and apparently I dropped a nail down the garbage disposal.

Maybe it fell in there when you were flossing your teeth. I have the impression a tough gal like you could chew railroad spikes and spit nails!

A couple of years ago a small pebble from one of the potted plants over the sink fell in the disposal. It punched a hole in the housing and started leaking under the sink. Good thing Balota was able to unstick it!

Oh, yeah. I forgot to tell you all Balota came bearing gifts. Here is my incredibly awesome pink Tactical Pen. We may not be able to conceal carry in Illinois (yet) but I do not go unarmed. Notice the beveling? It reminds me of my much admired spike bayonets.
