What is it about this time of year where we get a spate of these horrific incidents.

As a parent with two young kids I can't think of anything worse than a children ripped apart by these types of dogs. What must have gone through the poor child's mind I shudder to think.

We have had two incidents over here already over the last month.

Maybe it's because it's mating season and dogs temperament changes. People often forget dogs are pack animals, put a bunch of them together with a small child and they revert to primal instincts.

Hell, we put a bunch of soccer fan's together, you know what happens then.

I agree animals have to be taught. We have 2 pits and they are very friendly, loyal to the family and almost like a family member. But why was there 7 dogs? Was it a rouge pack of dogs?

I have seen so many animals "turn" on their owners. Dogs, cats, horses, ...
Pets that were regarded as docile and "would never hurt a fly". These animals do this on a sudden urge - some strange thought can go through their mind, instantly - and they often act very remorseful afterwards. But then it is too late. The deed is done. The sudden animal instinct or urge or provocation or whatever went through the animal's mind happened - and it turned - in that instant.

Animals are animals and it should be remembered that they are animals - with different thought processes.
To leave a child with an animal is way way too trusting and is jeopardizing that child's life.

To see the results - the outcome of these things - like the post is just heartbreaking. and so completely needless - if the parent had just used plain old common sense.
Animals are not little people. They are animals.

I don't get it, either.
If you read the papers in soccer season, there are many articles, especially from Latin America and Southern Europe where soccer fans riot over the final score, or an official's call and kill 10-20 of their own. Happens several times each year.
