Just got on this thread. You might look at Superfocus and other adjustable-focus eyeglasses. Not cheap, but neither is buying glasses every few weeks.

I'm a caregiver for the elderly. I'm 62 myself. I keep thinking, the day is coming when I ring the doorbell at a new client's house and say, "Hi, I'm Charles and I'm your caregiver -- and this is Frank; he's MY caregiver."

One solution to remembering passwords that I read was to pick a word you won't forget and alternate the letters with the digits of a number you won't forget. Here's an example with pi and, er, a familiar word: 3f1u4c1k6. I don't use this method, but it seems like a good idea.
