is this the secret to New York pizza being the best?
Went to Ginos today for some pizza for lunch and ordered a small and I get this 16" behemoth of a pizza. Is that the secret to New York pizza, when you order a small, you get enough to feed an army?

that box is too small for the pizza thats in it. it doesnt even sit flat in the box, its curled up on the sides. not much left after me and my dogs having lunch.

Oh man. I spent a week in downtown Manhattan doing the whole tourist thing a couple of years ago and I can STILL taste those pizzas. A-maze-ing!

NYCity Pizza is THE BEST. I have had pizza in all the major cities from LA to Chicago to Miami and back to NYC. I have had pretty good pizza in other cities, but No pizza is anywhere near as good as NYCity pizza.. Every time I go down there (it's 250 miles south of me) that is the first thing I get. The second is garlic knots. It is ONLY in the city. They say it is the water/dough. I don't really know for sure.
Just my experience/opinion.

Supposedly the reason for the claim is the water. I seem to remember something about the lime content. The pizza and bread from the N.Y. to about Philly/Baltimore area is truely different from anywhere else. You can't get a decent sub roll, Italian bread, or pizza crust anywhere but up there.
There is a difference.

I think pizza from anywhere is good. ive never been to New York and ive had great pizza from right here at home.

Their no such thing as good pizza anywhere ....anywhere outside of NY! Now I was extremely fortunate to have one of the greatest pizza shops right in my hometown. It's not your "typical" NY pizza, but you will never find another of it's like. So if anyone ever gets the chance or is passing through or near Nanuet, NY, stop in at the Nanuet Hotel and Resturaunt at 132 Main St, Nanuet, NY 10954. You will not regret it or the pizza is on me!
