I noticed that, too. Last year my youngest son and I went to a steakhouse for his birthday. The steak knives were pretty large looking but they were dull as a butter knife but were heavily serrated. They got the job done but not with any efficiency. How stupid is that. Take the sharp knives away for fear of liability or whatever.

I carry a very small pocket knife on my key chain. A couple weeks ago I picked my granddaughter up from school and she was going to do her homework before we played Wii. There was no pencil in the house and we couldn't find a pencil sharpener so I showed her how to sharpen a pencil with a pocket knife. We used to do it all the time as kids. And my parents would sharpen our pencils with knives, too, until my parents installed a 'real' wall mounted pencil sharpener in the basement. I have one in my basement, too.

I am sure anyone carrying a sharp pencil is a suspect also.

I used to work with a guy who carried a knife at work. He worked second shift and always carried a knife. Second shift was often responsible for putting supplies away since they were often delivered late in the day on the first shift. This guy would often cut the boxes open with his knife. One day I asked him to cut something open for me and he searched for a pair of scissors and cut it open for me. I asked him where his knife was (I could have found a pair of scissors, too). He said someone complained to the boss that his knife scared them and he couldn't bring it to work anymore. Mind you, we all KNEW this guy. It's not like he was a stranger amongst us who we were afraid would attack us. He is someone we had worked with for YEARS. I don't understand people sometimes.

^^ That's ridiculous. I carry a knife at work everyday (and everyplace else for that matter). I have used in front of customers and nobody has ever complained. People are a bunch pansies these days.

I think there's a direct correlation to schools banning knives probably shortly after teachers weren't allowed to smack the **** out of students anymore.

Come on down, I'll buy the beer and give you what the teachers didn't. They had two weapons of choice, the paddle for the girls and a 3/4 inch rod for the boys when i was in school......
