he described himself in a FOXNEWS interview as an average soldier, mediocre, that he did what anyone in his platoon would have done. He evaluated the situation, knew what had to be done and took the action necessary.

Spoken like a true hero!! Hand Salute!!

That is precious and wonderful!! SSG Giunta deserved that for all he did. I am glad he stood tall and proud and also mentioned his brothers he has lost. He is a true HERO in a lot of peoples eyes.

When I read about this yesterday I recognized his name from a book I read - WAR by Sebastian Junger. Very good book. These guys are all amazing. I highly recommend the book.

Also check out Home — RESTREPO — A Film by Sebastian Junger & Tim Hetherington

I pre-ordered the DVD this past summer after I read the book. It ships in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to watching it.

All soldiers assigned to airborne units whose primary missions are airborne operations wear the maroon beret. Paratrooper airborne units, like the 82nd at Ft. Bragg and the 101st Airborne at Ft. Campbell.

SSG Giunta is with the 173rd Airborne Brigade, at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.

I could not say anything more appropriate or telling. This man is a true warrior who upheld every sense of what it is to be a "brother in arms".

*utmost respect*

I am very impressed, especially by his humility.
