As Spock would say, 'fascinating'!

I must have missed something between the lines?

As long as you/your group is just about loving your god and being pro 2nd amendment and is not about hating on people different from you, i have no problem with you/your group.

John 15:18-21 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me."
Quote:
‘As for yourselves, beware; for they will hand you over to councils; and you will be beaten in synagogues; and you will stand before governors and kings because of me, as a testimony to them. And the good news must first be proclaimed to all nations. When they bring you to trial and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say; but say whatever is given you at that time, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death; and you will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

I really don't believe it's anyone's job here to judge.

He has his beliefs, you have yours.

As long as neither of you try to make the other come around to "your views", and no one is being hurt, targeted or disparaged in the process, what's the big deal??

The real problems are OUT THERE.

Default S.y.g.a.....

Hello, All-

(especially, 'skullcrusher'!)

Alright-it's amazing what a bad night's sleep will do for a sticky situation. I understand everything now. I am going to lay it all out in the open, and hope all this juvenile name-calling will cease. I know now why Mr. Skullcrusher was going off on me about hats, robes, etc. It's because on the membership page of my site I happened to mention that tragic war of 1861-65. A conflict which should never have happened, really; the slave-holders/planters (and almost all of the privates in the ranks) cared not a whit about the slaves, but viewed them only as property (which technically at the time they were, according to our own constitution) and nothing else. They were fighting not so much to uphold slavery (though if the South won, it might have endured another generation) but to repel 'invaders' (not really true; evidence Ft. Sumner) according to General Jackson, which is shown in the excellent film 'God's and Generals'.

The ONLY reason I mentioned it was as a historical reminder of the fact that when government gets too large and powerful, (like our present one, long ago), an oppressed-feeling people may feel the only option they have is war. This is what I think happened then, according to my reading, research, and my time here (in the South), talking to the natives, of which I'm not.

Speaking of native Southerners-those of you who have never even been here, and have an image in your mind from the movies of the average guy here as a walking time-machine/bomb, ready to kill anyone who doesn't look, talk, act like him, are in error. Yes, prejudice exists in Dix, just as it does in NYC, LA, Boston, or Jackson Hole. I was born and raised in Ohio (the most segregated place I've ever been, btw), to an Alabama dad and an Ohio mom, so I know both sides of the story, and have lived in the South, Southwest, and West, since then. I've seen good and bad in all those places, because they all contain people, who are a mixture of both.

But I must say that here in Dix I have always been treated pretty fairly (yeah, I get those who say "Oh!" when I mention Ohio, and stuff) by natives. I don't delude myself into thinking that everyone here is happy that I didn't stay there, of course. But I 'voted' with my feet, so they get to 'put up' with me, though I'm not (really) even 100% 'Yankee', just born there.

Interestingly-there was a 'reverse migration' just after the war, from South to North, for jobs. Many men from Tennessee (my 'adopted' state) went to Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc. for work. So-they got to experience the Yankee prejudice against them, and it's pretty hard to hide your Southern accent when you have to talk on a job. Point being that it (prejudice-meaning to 'pre-judge' someone you don't know) exists anywhere people are, because it comes from man's heart.

I had an experience the other night that illustrates the kindness Southern people often show to complete strangers. My van radiator developed a (sudden) hole in it, and I was stuck on the side of the road for a couple of hours. A man in an El Camino gave me 2 gallons of water he had brought from home, and a fellow in a Trans Am gave me another gallon, also brought from home. I ended up in good conversations with both these gentlemen, and was glad to not have that 'uh-oh, I'm out here by myself ' feeling (it was about 2 a.m., after work) you get. I used to own a T.A., and he and I were laughing about it-mine was an '85, his a '99. Both of these guys were white, but I have no doubt they could just as easily have been any other color, since this is a big part of Southern culture...to help someone who needs it.

I don't hate anyone with no cause, and try not to, even when I (supposedly) do (have cause, by their behavior) so. I have never made a situation better by showing hatred towards another person, and hope I will never be so foolish to do so, in the future. Granted, sometimes I rant (a little) about the Islamic threat, but even then I realize that Arabs are made by God, just as we all are. If I was what skullcrusher accused me of, I certainly wouldn't have friends all over the world, and talk to them, on a daily basis. A man who hates a person (or a certain group) certainly can't spend time talking to him/her/them in a friendly manner-that's totally against human nature. I have (nearly) every race, nation, religion, etc. on my list of chat buddies, and the same is true in the non-cyber world. The park I supervise gets people from all over the city, so I deal with them everyday, at work. We have Indians, Pakistans, Ukranians, Polish, Chinese, and the normal mixture of black, white, brown, etc. I have to deal with them just as people, not as colors.

Anyway, I don't like being ostracized here, or anywhere else-but I don't return anyone's bad attitude, or prejudice, or hatred-I will just deal with it, as best as I can, under God's grace. I still like anyone who likes guns, and dislikes big-government socialism/communism, no matter how much they don't feel the same, towards my ways. After all, no one ever promised a Christian any 'rose gardens' in life.

Stay safe, and keep the gunnie 'faith'- :-)

It seems simple to me.

A supporting member asked Beau to explain his website and now he's getting hammered for his beliefs. He was a good sport, he wasn't pushing a damn thing. He simply responded to the request.

We're all about freedom and the Constitution/Bill of Rights here. We don't want to betray those principles. If we do, we're no better than those we despise.

How about a simple solution to what caused this:

No links to external websites in sig lines?

OK, Sorry for the nut-job comment Beau, that was uncalled for, I apologize for that. As for everything else i said, I stand behind 100%. As far as the rest of the Rapture comment goes: As I understand , you religious types want to "go to God", and the Rapture is your "reward" as faithful followers. Those of us Infidels, get to stay here and rot with Lucifer while the believers are carried away on a white cloud to live for eternity with God. So I don't see how, after subtracting the "nut-job" comment, anything else I said could be found insulting as it was not meant to be. That's what I believe, and last I checked I hold the same unalienable rights the rest of you do to free speech a free thought.

I haven't rushed to judgement on this, because I'm still trying to figure it all out. I also haven't seen the original site, prior to the alterations that were mentioned, so I don't know what jumped off there. I'm frankly unsure how this all even came up, so I'll go with it this way...

In the past, we've had some unsavory types post some non-sensical stuff, and then throw a link into their sig, and you'd find out what they really were.
Don't know if you can block a link in the sig, but perhaps the time has come.

Perhaps the time has come for a religious section here. I'm not a Christian, but have always supported the Christian guys here if a thread was getting out of control, and they were being attacked. That said, nothing in the world gets out of hand quicker than religious debate, other than one thread that was clearly marked as such, and debate there was friendly and informative.

Maybe we can piggyback into the politics thread, where any form of religion might help.

Religion and this forum have a history, and while we all walk in peace here, many of us have seen real s**tstorms erupt because of it. The largest was a miscommunication, with pretty catastrophic results.

My .02
