Russians offer Pirate Hunting cruises

LUXURY RUSSIAN YACHTS OFFER PIRATE HUNTING CRUISES

Luxury ocean liners in Russia are offering pirate hunting cruises aboard armed private yachts off the Somali coast.

Wealthy punters pay 3,500 per day to patrol the most dangerous waters in the world hoping to be attacked by raiders.

When attacked, they retaliate with grenade launchers, machine guns and rocket launchers, reports Austrian business paper Wirtschaftsblatt.

Passengers, who can pay an extra 5 a day for an AK-47 machine gun and 7for 100 rounds of ammo, are also protected by a squad of ex special forces troops.

The yachts travel from Djibouti in Somalia to Mombasa in Kenya. The ships deliberately cruise close to the coast at a speed of just five nautical miles in an attempt to attract the interest of pirates.

"They are worse than the pirates," said Russian yachtsman Vladimir Mironov. "At least the pirates have the decency to take hostages, these people are just paying to commit murder," he continued.'

You looking to have the heads shrunken or are we talking about an ear necklace? Ears are easy, you just cover them in salt for a week, nature does the rest. I still haven't figured out how to shrink heads yet.

I wouldn't be so worried about that part. You see, if these truly are russian yachts, they may have some sort of sweet "iron curtain" deal on surplus ammo. But, I can't imagine this would be real.

I would understand an advert for mercs who want to protect real cargo ships and given the license to kill, but an actual pleasure cruise aimed at killing other humans (no matter how despicable those humans may be) sounds fake.

Proud of you guys' skepticism :D

Indeed it was a hoax, apparently:

Quote:

"Pirate hunting cruises offered" is a hoax, which started as a satire on thespoof.com and like the Nigerian-scam concerning the proceeds from the Yenegoa Ocean case should not be reposted. But since it has now even it's own website Somali Cruises and similar sick ventures reportedly took place in Sudan, Southern-Somalia and even Gaza in reality, a watchful eye should accompany those "travel-agents", who might think to put it into reality.

Have to admit I entertained the thought it might be true :o But I guess like any good hoax, it did have a GRAIN of possible truth...it was Russia, after all. And in that case very slightly feasible lol
