Default Remembering the Fallen

Today we laid to rest Ogden City Police Officer Jared Francom. He was killed in the line of duty last Wednesday night as the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike force served a warrant on a man suspected of growing marijuana. The suspect was waiting inside the house with an AK-47, killing officer Francom and sending 5 more brave men to the hospital, and it's unknown is some of them will survive. My thoughts, my prayers are with the families of the victims tonight, and I wish I could express my thanks for all the work our fine officers do. May God bless all the men and women who so selflessly serve this country. I wish I had your courage.

We will remember him and the others as well as their families in our prayers. I personaly have had three friends shot and killed in the line of duty over the years. What happened to the dirt ball? It is a pis- poor trade no mater if they smoked him!

He was only slightly injured. According to the local paper the DA is going for the death penalty. I hope this sucker fries.

My thoughts and sympathies to the officer's family, the department, and the whole community. I lost three brothers on the same call in '09 along with a fourth wounded, so I understand the tragedy that this is all too well.

We dedicated this poem to our fallen, the guys at the station I worked at. I rededicate it now to this fallen hero.

"A Part of America Died"

Somebody killed a policeman today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.

The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
and spend many long, lonely nights.

The beat that he walked was a battle field too,
just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.

Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.

Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call, of himself gave his all,
and a part of America died.
