I know, Wills. But how do they know the one that got killed was their mate? I've never shot a goose............or any other animal for that matter.

I assume they know the same way any other animal knows each other apart, scents, smells, sounds, etc.

How good is a goose's sense of smell? I think they all sound the same, too. But then again, I'm not a goose.

I don't know I'm not a goose either but I'd assume it works for what they need it for, it probably isn't their strongest sense

Default A babys cry.......

the first thing a wild animal hears is the voice of his or her mother..... and she hears her off spring...... Humans don't adhere to this........Birds and mammals alike...... like honey to bees......Why is it in the insect family that females rule the colony................

Well I just proved for the second year in a row that my thumb is not green. Started a bunch of tomato and chili plants and some other stuff in the basement under a grow light, it all sprouted good, then the other day I built a greenhouse type frame out of plastic sheeting and I moved them outside and set the plastic hut over them, they were doing great up until yesterday afternoon then I looked at them today and they were pretty much all dead and shriveled up. Really p****s me off! I'm not sure if it frosted last night or what but even if it did I figured the greenhouse frame would have protected them from that. Guess I will start over, SONOFAB*TCH!!!!

I never had much luck with that, either. My seedling would always mold. I just buy small plants from the local nursery then plant them right in my garden.

Thats what we end up doing too but it gets expensive buying all those plants, mold could have been part of my problem too as my frame doesn't allow for air movement as most greenhouses have windows or sections of roof that open, I don't know sooner or later I will figure it out I hope

I usually just plant tomato plants. I grow lettuce from seed and that's about it.

I mainly just start tomatoes and pepper plants early everything else seems to do ok just directly planting, my ground isnt the best either so starting early helps, I have to find some manure compost or something and haul in about a dump truck load of it then maybe my garden will do better
