I'm thinking of getting some shotshells for my Ruger SP101 but I've heard it damages rifling, is this true?

Scratch, if you use steel shot, maybe. If you use lead shot, it should not.
But lead shot could get deformed easier because of the lands and lead the barrel worse that lead round nose cartridges.

It's not true. There's no way lead shot from a .38/.357 shotshell will damage the steel barrel. Not only that but it's encapsuled in a plastic cup.

Anybody else thinking "Clarisse..." They don't look useful, but do look fun. Now, if your kids are planning to stake out Santa, the irony of giving them a pair of these later on Christmast morning when it is too late for them to spot and/or net a fat man in a fur suit would be quite thick, IMO.
