Well, daughter, HER daughter, future fiancee, and HIS two boys are off for a week at the beach. As many of you know, he has asked for my blessings to ask her to marry him.

Here's what SHE does not know- but all of us, including the kids- DO know- he is taking along his metal detector. The kids will have a strategic spot staked out (guarded) on the beach. He will "find" the box with her ring on Monday while using metal detector- with her watching (kids have job of keeping any other metal detecting geek AWAY) and propose to her there on the beach.

3 teenagers- in on the plot- and they are loving it.

Default Enough!!!

The hospital I work at is located in a University town (Northern Illinois University). The students moved in last week and this weekend is the annual town's "Corn Fest" which celebrates the farming communities and is a 'welcome' to the students. Of course, some of these students are away from home and parents for the first time in their lives.

Corn Fest features many things to do such as concerts, games, rides, etc. And let me say the beer flows freely. Even though many of these students are under 21, their 'friends' buy them beer. It is my luck to work this Corn Fest weekend and I have done not much else besides run alcohol levels and drug screens on the many 'patients' that have come into our ER tonight drunk on their butts. Some of these alcohol levels are considered 'critical'. All the others are just pretty darned high for a 19 year old who probably isn't used to drinking much. What I find funny is when these youngsters slur out the words, "Please don't call my parents." And if they are over 18, their request is honored but if they are using their home address rather than the dorm address or are under their parent's insurance, the parents are going to find out anyway. LOL

I'm venting. I'm tired, I've been working hard tonight.........and I have to work tomorrow night, too.

I hate Corn Fest.

I hope so but I'm not so sure about that.

21 over here but it doesn't matter, anyway.

Back when I was 18, the legal drinking age in Illinois was 18, also. But that was a looooong, time ago.

18 here too, but it´s way too often when you see groups of 15 to 16 year olds drinking in the parks and getting completely wasted, sometimes even younger folks.
