It's getting a little difficult for me to be saying "I don't know anything about guns." I mean, I don't know a lot but I have learned so much. When I first joined here, I would read threads and not have any idea at all......none.......what I was reading. It was as if I were reading posts written in a language I didn't understand. And basically that's exactly what was happening. But I have noticed as I read posts, I am sometimes understanding the conversation happening in the threads. I'm getting the hang of the terminology and the acronyms. I know the parts of a gun and what they do (mostly). I can read a thread and follow along, for the most part. It is very exciting for me to see myself progress, even though it's slow. I find myself not getting so frustrated with myself because I never seem to understand what I read or know what's going on. The words often make sense and if they don't, at least I know enough to formulate a question to ask. When I ask questions, I usually fire off a PM to someone so as not to hijack a thread with one of my questions. It is very fun and exciting for me to be learning about guns as I am. And if you would have known me 10 or 15 years ago, you would know what an INCREDIBLE turnaround I've done. I didn't even want to hear the word "gun". They scared me. I thought people who owned them were up to no good. I was uneducated and uninformed. Then I met someone who taught me different. And when that relationship ended, I met FTF and continued learning about guns. So, I have one gun and now I want another. I am progressing nicely and in the usual fashion, don't you think?

Well, I have guns and I'm up to no good.

That is great to hear WOC. But I'd invite you to ask your questions openly. You may not be the only one who wonders about those things.

Yes, I agree. But if someone is running a thread on how to build an AR-10 and I want to know what the difference is between an AR-15 and and AR-10, where would I post that? I don't want the OP's thread to take a whole different direction. Should I post the questions in the "Random Thoughts Thread"? Should I start a whole new thread "Random Questions Thread"?

I would just post the question and hope for a civil answer.

I'm always up to no good but it usually doesn't involve guns.

So, here's a random question to add to your random question thread.
Background first: Found out this week that my new job is sending me to South Carolina for three days next week. As I'm packing, at 2 a.m. (again with the insomnia...), I realize I can't take my gun So for the first time in months I'm not going to have my gun, 2,000 miles from home in a strange place. I'm not going to lie I kind of panicked a little... Anyone else ever get a little anxious when they have to go someplace without a weapon?

+1 ask the question in the same thread. That way others will see the question/answer too and not start their own thread to ask the same question too.
