Those Sonnets were great little cars I would like to have. Another one I did own (though also not British) was a Fiat 850 Spyder. I bought it for $50 with a blown headgasket and sold it a few years later for $250. Twice. To the same guy.

Here is a pic of one that is the same lime green color.

Another cool car that a buddy of mine had in high school was an Opel GT with the 1.9 liter engine. That was a fun car!

Are you feeling ok C3 ?

I assume everyone knows what Saab stands for ?
Stupid Ass Actually Bought it , The most fun I ever have with saabs is when I play with them with the 763 bobcat . They are wonderful scrap yrd cars , they are heavy as hell for their size . And if german jet engineers built them , remind me not to fly in those planes .
We have a very nice and clean saab here now tied up in liens but no one wants due to a electrical issue which I THINK is coming from the gps kill box the dealer installed , its killed right now but I wont even look at it till the 9k lein clears on it .
Saw a yugo the other day still going and saw a Omni not too long ago as well
still shocked when I see the early escorts , probes , berettas , z-24s running around , or maybe a mid 80s toyota / nissan hatchback / minivan looking things .
Still looking for a clean early to mid 90's 5 series BMW to come in
Id take back any of the following in a heartbeat
86.5-97 nissan hardbody with 5 spd , z-24 engine or the vg-30 MPI only , the TBI was crap as was the KA-24 engine and must be 2wd
86.5-97 nissan pathfinder 2 door only and 5spd 4wd only , either vg-30 will do
72 chevy short bed step side
early big body BMWs
early 90's toyota camery auto for everyday 5spd for fun
Mazda MX-3 which was nothing but fast looking escort but I pulled a ton tail in my early HS days with that car
Still have a soft spot for late 80-mid 90s F series ford trucks with any engine or trans combo , but prefer the inline 300
Id like to have back the old Apache dad impounded that would pull the ft end off the ground '' he ragged that one out ''
The PERFECT and flawless red C-10 such s super sweet truck .
I had some junk too , back in the day I would drag stuff out of the junk yrd , get it going and slap dealer tags on it and rock out . Most died on the once legendary power lines of the time but in doing so gave their life for EPIC stories and memories that I will always remember and tell .

The tie rod snapping Mighty Max or mighty scratch , made it from one end of Ligon Mill to the other , never stopping and never coming out of red line and 2nd gear , she lost her life to massive overheat and fire at the end

The infamous 87 reg cab sb Nissan HB with the 8 plug z-24 engine , man trans swap and pathfinder limited rear end , OMG that truck was tough . It never did stop running but got so damaged over time it was parked and crushed .

The 82 toyota with 38s and no bed or doors , lost its first motor over a rod bearing , 2nd built motor was lost over my temper with it 3rd was SBC tied to a sm465 and np205 t-case , too much power and no weight , sold it

The eddie bauer v-8 explorer that had been in a roll over , I drove this one for a while but my party days cost it to loose 3 cylinders and all oil pressure , sold it still half way running
Jeep Cherokee 2wd 4.0 welded rear end with 350k on it , what a pos but it would never die , sold it with 375k and I still see it going round town .
I have owned
5 or 6 Nissan trucks , all different body styles . traded , sold , scrapped , totaled and 1 or 2 went out with their boots on
2 pathfinders died honorably in the line fun
4or 5 Altimas and sentras donated , wrecked , killed or sold
3 explorers all sold
2 F-series killed and scrapped
volvo or two wrecked and sold
Box truck sold
2 toyota trucks SOLD thank GOD
Many many camerys sold , crushed and wrecked
mighty max umm totaled before it was totaled
4 tahoes 3 totaled and 1 still going
1 suburban sold
2 1500 gm trucks sold
56 Mercury Monterey sold
56 Chrysler New Yorker ''PARKED '' after loosing a front wheel bearing @ 140mph , scarred me too bad to ever drive again
Jeep Wrangler prepped for my 383 and sm465 2wd only , going to use it to blow the doors off dads pretty purple barracuda
I only have the tahoe , f-350 , the harley that I drive but I have a 98 Altima 5 SPEED !!!! in the works for a daily beater , waiting on title
Countless fords , lil novas , subarus had been brought back to life just for one night of fun on the power lines , hell half of one of the taurus's is still wrapped around a tree .
2 04 dodge rams trucks
1 H1 hummer
1 particular explorer
1 of 2 Maserati's
1 07 infinity q35 '' 350z ''
Not going into details on the last ones but they are more than likely the reason for my junk back right now . When you jump a 12ft hill on a Q35 going 80 and barrel roll a 1500 goat with no seat belts , it may cause long term side effects

One of the subarus , this thing WAS tough to kill

one fo the exploder and my fav pathfinder also a case of bud light

My first Hardbody I put a 383 chevy in , traded it for the 56 new yorker

Ahh the Mighty Scratch at her final resting place

'' clears throat '' , the um Q35

Oh look , a ford sedan

The last car I ever jumped , the day after and ever since has my back been screwed

Ah and my 56 NY , taken my last day as a single man

A 383 Chevy? I thought 383 was Chrysler. Wasn't 383 in the 64 vintage Plymouth?

Re: Saab- there were Saabs- and there was the Sonnet V4. Sort of like there were Studebakers- and there was the Avanti.

It's a bored and stroked 350, called a 383 stroker. Bore the cylinders and throw a 400 crank in it and you have 383 CIDs instead of 350.

I thought it was just the crank and rods from a 400 small block. Boring the 350 and doing the crank and rods would make it into a 400.

383 gm is a 350 stroked out . I have some money tied up in mine but it WILL stay together , Eagle forged crank , Eagle H-beam rods , forged SRP flat top slugs with gapless rings , set up for roller cam , roller lifters and rockers , guide plates stud girdles pro comp 64cc heads with 220 intake
windage tray and scrapper , billet main caps all held together with arp along with ARP head studs $$$ but oh so nice and all coated H-series bearings
Motor is sitting right now , sold the cam , intake and oiling system off of it when I go back I am going to run all mercruiser marine oil system and pans maybe even valve covers if they will clear . I had it set up nice , emergency / auto shut down if loss or oil pressure or too high water temp , In other words it would not even fire till it built OP .
Only issue I ever had was I was turning the snot out of it 6500+ and the lower timing gear exploded taking with it my beloved 2 piece timing cover and #1 intake valve . Still dont know why or how a very high end billet timing chain and gear set failed like it did , never even heard of one doing it ...... on ANY thing .
That car had me shaking and trembling after every ride , I loved to pass people , Sneak up nice and slow , slap it in 2nd and come by them with the back tires smoking it would scare me about as bad as it would them . I hated the auto trans though , it was a bad ass trans , reverse gear pattern , trans brake , man valve body , everything but twas no 4 speed . I sold it to poor old guy needing one for his put around truck , wonder if he ever figured it out ?lol
Only motor I have and will never be afraid to turn , if it slings a rod then Im having one hell of a story to tell , Tach it up till the valve float LMAO

If I had kept it on the rd I would be dead by now for sure , it was nothing but a toy and I had ZERO respect for it

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can do the 400 crank , the old way of doing it . Now you can do it a few ways , I think the stock rods are 5.7 and 383 may be 6.0 but you need shorter slugs , Trying to remember my build , I know the crank is 3.750 vrs a stock 3.50 IIRC , also IIRC there are sveral rod and piston combos you can deal with , short rod , stroked crank , tall piston ........ long rod , stk crk , short piston . The wrong combo will have the piston coming out of the bore , also you have clearance issues with you block at the oil pan for the crank and your rods and cam shaft . Spend money on your rods and you wont have to run a small base circle cam
Basically the set up I have minus the pistons , I bought everything separate .
Next I do , think im just going to buy a complete ready engine , as much as I love to build , that warranty sounds nice . Hell I think I have a house payments worth of ARP fasteners on this engine , OP studs , header studs , VC studs , Main studs , head studs , even have a arp oil pump shaft and dist hold down , EVER single bolt nut and washer is from them .
Anyone seen the new AFR 2 piece intake for SBC ? oh its purrty but God awful expensive .
This next time around is gonna cost me since I am going with billet alum flywheel and prob a dual disc clutch , but when it in the jeep and ready it will pay off when I turn it up and dump 2nd and pull the front end off the ground with ZERO intentions of letting off the skinny pedal inbetween gears .

Now ...... who wants to let me drive trips Bachelor party van ?

I might be confused but I thought you had to bore it out too.
