Here are a couple of tips to help fall asleep and sleep better.

1) Make sure your bedroom is dark and cool.
2) Get a comfortable bed & pillows.
3) Set up some type of white noise, I use a humidifier all year round, with water in it only when the heat is on.
4) Set your alarm and face the clock away from you, so that you aren't obsessing on the time. Go to sleep and get up when the alarm goes off, there is no reason for you to concern yourself with the time in between.
5)Learn to use a mantra(s) to bore your brain to sleep! Mine is "With God's help, I choose to be happy & healthy in my body, mind & spirit." I say this over & over & over & over, until I have bored myself to sleep. *Be very careful what you choose to say to yourself continuously, you will come to believe it.
6) If you want to use natural chemicals to induce sleep, eat a turkey sandwich with a glass of milk, before bed. Both turkey and milk are high in L-tryptophan, and the carbs in the bread scrub the other amino acids away from the blood/brain barrier to allow the L-tryptophan to enter your brain and make you drowsy.
7) Supplement with 2000 - 3000 iu of Vitamin D3 & calcium, Vit. D is a sleep aid and while your taking it you might as well give yourself the benefit of up to 600 mg. of calcium for bone, teeth & nerve health.

I used to suffer from insomnia, and these choices/activities have made falling asleep/sleeping much better for me.

The one thing that stinks is that I would like to keep the door closed to keep the cats out but with hubby's Cpap machine going, the room gets really hot really fast.
