I've taken every sleep med from the doc too. Ambien helped short term but doesn't work now so I rarely take it.

Too bad pot would lose me my job, custody, and fiancee. And I have a slight moral objection to it. I know several insomniacs who sleep like babies after a single hit. They swear by it, and one guy I know has a tiny little pipe he uses. He drops a little ball of pot in the end, about the size of my pinky nail, screws the ventilated cap on, smokes it till it's gone (which only takes about two hits) and sleeps like a baby. He buys a single joint on the street at a time, takes it apart at home and gets nearly a week of use out of it.

For you insomniacs...........Benadryl? Sominex? Chamomile tea? Those don't work?

I'm perpetually looking for something to keep me awake and have more energy.

I'll wait till you have tried that approach and report on the effectiveness before I try it myself if you don't mind.

I hear the same things. Haven't tried it myself though, and I don't have anything holding me back from trying! Hell, its even legal here.

Nope. None of those work, not even in combinations. I have tried valerian root drops in chamomile tea washing down melatonin. I don't hold with benadryl or sominex though. Haven't tried Ambien because I am afraid of the possiblity that I would sleep walk and do something horrible (common side effect of Ambien when you suffer from PTSD)

There is still property available in gun-friendly Mississippi. Whenever I go hangout with one group of my friends, there is about a 60% chance we will end up plinking cans out back.

Some husbands/boyfriends/etc. might find that insulting; others might just have a wry grin.

Many over the counter sleep aids just have an antihistamine. Antihistamines don't work for me, and on the off chance they do help me sleep a bit, the hangover is so bad I'd rather get "puke and pass out" drunk.

Teas. Just a funny tasting and smelling drink to me. I'll drink some hot teas with honey and lemon when I'm sick, but other than that, sweet Lipton tea.

In the past three weeks I've cut out all caffeine after lunch too.
