i worked many that were fatalities. many were extremely gruesome and bloody. if people were exposed to more of this as required conditions of getting a license, maybe, just maybe they would be more vigilant and attentive to their driving, instead of their cell phones and texting while driving.

it's been many years since i have worked an accident with fatalities, but i can still see every one of them in my mind, just as if they were yesterday.
I've seen my share, but not that many. Once Me and Mrs primer found someone tried to jump some railroad tracks. They flipped the suv many times, 3 of the five were ejected. Beer cans empty and full were scattered probably 30 yards. Long story short, the two not ejected were fine, two serious, the other one spent over a month in critical care or something. I did what I could with my limited cpr and first aid training, The neighbors that beat me there were solidified.

Yeah. I live on the edge.

I jumped out of a runaway truck back in 1999. No helmet. I would have been killed had I not jumped. Truck was going 50-60 MPH when I jumped. Broke my arm in 3 places, road rash, sprained ankle and a pretty bad head injury (should have been wearing a helmet?) but still alive. I still don't wear a helmet these days. Like I said, livin' on the edge.

Eeek, not too many people can say they've done that.

Sometimes you beat the odds, sometimes the odds best you. I know two individuals that won the lottery big time. I'm in several different lottery pools, the most we've one is into two digits. :\

When I got to the trauma center after the ambulance ride the triage nurse asked me what happened. When I said I jumped out she asked me what possessed me to jump and I just said it seemed like the thing to do at the time.

The first responder, a motor cop, walked into the room awhile later and looked like he was seeing a ghost. He said if I had not have jumped I would have been "lying on the stainless steel table in the room down the hall." (Meaning the morgue).

I said "You aren't gonna give me a ticket are you?" and he asked why the hell would he do that and I replied (deadpan):

"I left the scene of the accident ten seconds before it happened."

It did leave me with a case of PTSD though. I had lots of flashbacks for a year or two, plus I had to pass the scene any time I drove down into town- such as on my way to and from work.

But I am alive.

Tell me about it ,I have not been as comfortable riding that bike ever since it got hit , getting a bit better though .

3 bikes in the shop right now and the only one that needs no wrenching is my shop mates yamaha , other 2 are harley .
I will still take a broke down HD over anything else that is running

Well, you sure aren't scared enough to quit riding so damned fast.

I believe you have a death wish.

unless you fall off or hit a bug or an animal jumps out in front of you or you hit a rock in the road, etc.
