Count yourself blessed.
Boomer crews regularly did/do 90 day deployments most of which was spent underwater.

A new Delorean from old parts will only set you back about 25k. I looked into buying one a while back. They aren't nearly as exotic as people think. I replaced a complete brake system on one.

Hell with that, shop around enough, I've seen them in trashed but running condition for less than 10K.

And you could probably do something not quite...stock...with the power plant.

I wouldn't call the DeLorean exotic. Unusual? Sure. But not exotic. Exotic cars must have extremely high performance (when they run!). DeLoreans were ho-hum performers even when they were brand new. It really was a turd of a car. I keep telling people that rare and valuable are not synonymous.

if they had had the time to work out the bugs in the DeLorean, it wuld have been a neat car. they are a fun car to drive, but not sports car material by any means. i have driven and worked a few of them in the past, and they handle decently, braking is so-so, and acceleration is okay. i would put them in about the same class as a Pontiac Fiero.
