Texas Hold'em. As far as legalities, don't know- am not a lawyer.

But I could ask the Sheriff. Its his turn to deal.

And Winds- re your Sis- May she (and you) live long and well. But we used to have an expression among us grunts- "I'd do it for you." And that was the most profound philosophical statement in 5 words I know of. If you ever watch Flight of the Intruder, when Virgil Cole is talking to Sandy Lead, you will hear it.

C3, you're awesome. Have I ever said that before?

I know my way around the medical field. I know I can make good decisions for my family members and I am humbled and flattered to be asked to make decisions for them should they ever not be able to do so themselves.

My Dad doesn't always understand that part. When he's asked to make a decision, he thinks I should make it for him. I told him my role comes in when he can no longer make his own decisions. But for now, I tell him, my role is to understand what he wants done and to be sure it gets done. Sometimes he needs me to explain things to him more clearly in a way that he can understand, but he is still able to make his own decisions and I encourage him to keep control over his own life and to make those decisions for himself.

I'm going to shoot a pigeon.
Seriously, what kind of demon spawned bird from hell makes noises at night?!!

Well, now I'm in a predicament.

For months, I have been wanting a 1911 to use as a carry gun, but have yet to find one within my price range (it has to go through private sale due to me not being 21 quite yet, which severely limits my choices out there) I just found a beautiful stainless Beretta 92FS 9mm for $650 (could probably talk him down some). I'm stuck between guns now.

I plan on eventually having both, but can only get one now.

I can see pros and cons for each of them. Seems like the biggest complaint on the Beretta was the large grips, but I have large hands, so that does not matter. Ammo cost is also a factor, but I plan on reloading so that may not be that big of a deal.

Any suggestions? I could get the Beretta tonight if I want it. I could get the 1911 as soon as I find one within my price range, that's for sale by an individual.

Here's what the Beretta looks like.

Seeing as your not old enough yet to carry, and have what? Another year? I would jump on the Beretta. See if you can talk him down, as $650 is about the price for the standard version NIB at many big box stores (stainless may be more, I don't know, but try anyway).

This is especially true if you have large hands and can handle it before you buy it.

You won't be disappointed. But continue saving for the 1911 after you get it.

I'll be 21 in August.

The more I look at it, the more I want it.

This is about the same gun as the M9 isn't it? About how much difference in weight is there between a 1911 and a Beretta?

Isn't it illegal to hold private poker games with stakes that high?
Bah humbug! You're on the right path at least -- there are people you can like and those you don't know well enough yet.

Isn't the illegality usually in taking a profit from others gambling amongst themselves, i.e. acting as "the house" or the casino?
