If they are, I don't see how the coating could possibly hold up. I can ruin a high quality pan with a fork in record time.

Maybe you need Teflon-plated forks to match those pans?

And that's why I don't use Teflon. So long as it stays below ~350 degrees it's great but above that it begins to break down chemically giving off some truly toxic gases. Plus once it starts breaking down it scratches and flakes.

part of the reason i prefer cast iron skillets. it's kind of hard to tear up a cast iron skillet.

Cast iron skillets are awesome. I just hate having to clean and season them after using. It's not as easy as sticking them in the dishwasher like normal pots and pans but hey, a little work never hurt anyone

another thing is that cast iron skillets have been around at least a couple of hundred years now. much longer than that teflon crap. people have been doing just fine with cast iron for many years. another good thing about cast iron cookware, it works great on a campfire too.

Couldn't agree with you more axxe. My favorite desert is still a good ol' fashion cobbler cooked in a cast iron dutch oven out by the campfire. Yum, now I'm hungry

just about anything that can be cooked in the kitchen can be cooked over a campfire is my motto! just have to learn to control the fire. i love cokking over a campfire. and everything tastes better cooked outside.
