That's the way I was with my parents. I hate to be the one who has to say this but, that's probably a bad thing.

I had some pretty shady friends... And did some crazy stupid stuff, got into some pretty bad situations and then felt like I could ever talk to my parents about any of it. To this day, they don't know half of what I did during high school. And even now they don't know much.

My oldest daughter brought her friends over until about twelfth grade. Then she started doing more and more at their houses. Turned out she had a MUCH older boyfriend she was out with. Once it came to light, things got a lot better. We are close again now. And she married that boy, too.

well that's good I'm glad it turned out alright. That's the kind of things I did, except more like ninth grade-ish. Didn't turn out so well.

It's sad. My daughter has six girls friends she hangs out with all the time. They all go to Texas A&M. I've become all their father almost instantly!! It's weird. They come over for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout the week (not everyday). They come to the house and squeal when they see me. They practically run over themselves giving me a Big Bear hug and kiss. They cuddle with me on the couch. Five out of the six girls parents live in the area. I can tell they don't have that warm, loving relationship with their dad like my daughter and I do and I think they can tell that I am that kind of guy. I also have rules, which I enforce, like no cell phones at the table during meal times. I only had to give one girl the eye and the table got real quiet and all phones disappeared. I said "Thank you" after my daughter explained that the only calls allowed are Army calls for me and if my 15 year old daughter calls from her moms. It's simple things. Politeness, yes , sir, yes, ma'am (which is easy, we are in Texas), no cussing, be considerate, just regular things I don't think they may be used to. I never thought, in a million years, that my daughter would say "it's really cool to have the "cool" dad!" Imagine that!

Thank you for the intro. It was very nice of you, As I said I'm not a coffee drinker but I drink a lot pop. Mostly diet pepsi or whatever is available, but I try to stay with diet as much as possible. Hey ,you pick time ,when you want to meet up.

Last anniversary we went to a comedy club. Vic Henley was the performer. Was making fun of kentucky rednecks. Then asked why were there, wife explained its our anniversary. Then he had to ask what I got her.....it was guns...... Yeah he thought that was hilarious.
