Well he's got the schems to a 1948... I imagine I know why!
Probably the last toaster he ever bought! But, if it still works... and did you see the video I linked? If it still works, still that damn awesome, and still looks that good... Why bother with a new one?

One of those gas/electric golf carts? Yeah, I had a customer in the past when I was doing a little side work in small engine repair. He couldn't get it to crank up and run. Trying to explain to him that it worked like a hybrid car just kept going over his head. I finally just took it in for a week, then told him I couldn't fix it, and I would drop it off atty his house, no charge on drop off or any labor.

Nice save. I was swinging the ban hammer over my head like a mace.

EVERY day should be women's day. Hahahaha...........
Just like when I was a kid when it was Mother's Day or Father's Day I'd ask my Mom when is it going to be Children's Day. And she'd say "Every day is Children's Day" and I never knew what she meant.........until I grew up.

The rest of it is stamped chrome plated steel on the outside, and just stamped steel on the inside. Not sure what the elements are made of.

Yes. It's heavy. Very heavy for a damn toaster. But it's freaking sweet. I love retro stuff. Or, C3 may still consider this kind of thing "futuristic" or "space-agey"
We had one real similar to that when I was a kid growing up. It lasted for year, in fact I be my Mom's still got it around somewhere.

As long as the thermo sensor is good (it worked before I took it apart), then I should be able to just plug it in and go!

I've been thinking I messed up on reassembly because the racks won't stay down, but apparently they're "silent", and ease down when current heats up an internal spring. When the sensor thinks your toast is done, it shuts off the current, which allows the spring to contract, raising the toast again.

But, after watching videos on how this thing operates, I think I have it put back together right, and it should be fine.

I have one up in my attic. It was my Nana's and I got it when she died. Except one side of one slot doesn't heat up.

I think after stripping this one down and putting it back together, I could fix that. It should just be a burned out or loose connection.

Yes, I'm home from work, and le toaster is... le working. I just toasted half a loaf of old stale bread just to watch this bad boy go!

Drop in...toaster ingests bread (by itself, no lever to press)...moments later, le awesome toaster gives the toast like commandments! TADA! A miracle of past engineering!

It's like a freaking toaster God!

I'm not being sarcastic. I truly am freaking amazed and blown away by this simple device who's only purpose for existence is to lightly scorch sliced bread on both sides. This is the most awesome damn toaster I've ever seen in my whole miserable little life. I am not worthy. I am not worthy. No, not even a little.

Why the hell don't they still make these?

Yes, I remember the weight of the bread dropped the bread down into the toaster.

Now I want to go dig mine out of the attic and see if I could fix it. Those things are as shiny as a mirror, too, aren't they?

Why don't they make them anymore? Because now they make cheap toasters that you have to replace every few years.

And, if we all had as much fun with the toaster as you are, no one would get any work done. Use that toast to make croutons......or throw it outside for the birds.

Bait the birds with toast...
Bait the feral cats with birds...

I know what I'm doing tomorrow!
