Your crazy , Purple Power is thee only way to go , go buy a 5 gallon bucket and get you a good spray bottle or even the refillable rechargeable cans we have here at the shop .
Thats all I use around here it will destroy varnish and oil quicker than any carb or brake cleaner not to mention its cheap and it wont dissolve your lungs and inner nose .
I just changed a ring gear on a GM flywheel , that was fun . Put it on the brake lathe with a map gas torch aimed at it for a few minutes , a few light taps and off it comes .
Getting it back on is a different train ride

When I had the garage in Sneed's Ferry NC we had several straight sticks and needed to change the ring gear on flywheels.
Easy to replace and keep in balance.
Put the flywheel in the freezer over night and then the next morning put the ring gear in a large electric skillet at 200 degrees for about 30 minutes in clean oil.
Lay the flywheel on a wood bench so it will not draw the cold out and then put the hot ring gear on and it will shrink to a tight straight fit!
Some old dogs still have a few tricks up their sleeve!
