Not by much at all. Really, the only benefit I see to dipping over smoking is that you'd still be able to breathe.

As I understand it the only "advantage" chewing has over smoking is that your lungs don't get damaged, but you have a host of other health issues that go along with chewing.

The biggest change I have seen from quitting drinking is the money I don't spend on alcohol. That is significant. Smoking will give you more stamina and less money up in smoke. My father in law was a smoker up until about 10 years before he died. His lifetime of smoking either caused outright or exacerbated all of his health problems throughout his life, and shortened it significantly. He died a miserable and broken old man at 87 years old. Most of his siblings lived until 100 or so, except for the younger brother who was a chain smoker. He died at around 70 from lung cancer.

I chewed grizzly from 7th grade til a couple years after high school. It tore my gums up pretty bad. I've not dipped in 4 years or so, my gums are in good shape but still have a receded line around a couple of my teeth.

I need to quit smoking. It's been 3 days since I have just dunno if that'll last.

Keep it up KY! Its the best thing you could do for your daughter. (Keep telling yourself that when you get the urge to light one up).

Eww grizzly always gave me a bad after taste. I remember I started on Copenhagen winter green and then Skoal peach and then Skoal berry blend , now I'm all Skoal apple blend.
Flavors only taste good for about a week before I get tired of it. Next weeks featured flavor Is Skoal citrus.

That's the thing. I don't really have the urge when I'm home. I would never smoke when my daughter was awake, only 1 or 2 maybe then bed.

At work, that's a different story. Mainly boredom then stress. Lately I've been waking up having trouble breathing, in which I need to use an inhaler to get relief or cough and wait it out. When I was younger I used a nebulizer, so I know I'm stupid to smoke.

Drinking though, I'll keep on with, as I don't drink heavy and I go 28 without one, then have a few when I'm on my off days. More power to you though Viking on having stopped drinking.

For what it's worth, I went on one of those high protein, low carbohydrate diets. Lousy nutrition. You can't live that way. But damn if it didn't shed the pounds. I lost about 25-30 pounds in 2 months and dropped 60 points off my cholesterol.

My favorite meal was breakfast. English muffin with peanut butter and bacon bits. Told my doctor about it. He nearly had a heart attack and apoplexy at the same time! Keep that one in mind for when your doctor deserves to have his mind blown!

You can get good nutrition with some low carb diets. I think the more important thing to focus on is gluten free, or maybe low gluten.

I will say though that cutting back on refined sugar is critical to good health, eliminating all artificial sweeteners is essential (I use honey as a sweetener almost exclusively these days). I have also eliminated milk, and cut back on cheese, etc. (milk products). Also cut back on anything that has gluten. Oh yeah, and I quit drinking.

Physically it has helped.
Have you lost your mind? Yeah, the sugar, the milk, the cheese, the gluten, but DAMN...
