Those chaps are lifesavers. It is not just dumb, but plain freaking stupid to use a chainsaw without them. I require all of my employees to wear chaps, gloves, eye protection and ear protection and I replace them often. $50 for a pair of chaps every couple of months is a lot easier to stomach than somebody losing a leg. Hell, around here there aren't any brand new chains. They get used too quickly.

His got caught on the torque teeth on the saw then the chain bit in and pulled through on its own cuz the throttle stuck open. Ya they save alot of people but I wont wear em.....then again I don't let the chain get that close to my body.

I said that too, saw bucked and chain caught my leg. I dropped the throttle in time. Chewed through two layers of carhartts and marked my leg. I about ship my pants.

Ya I hear you on that....my saw is ALOT bigger than yours I bet and has a kick back bar on it to prevent that.

I dunno. It has the kick bar too. Not fail proof.

Sthill 56 with 36" bar.... Taint small.

No its not fail proof. Mine the 665 log boss stihl w a 36" bar as well....the bar that was on it earlier is 42" w a 5/16" kerf to it.
