Hey Winds, if you want your new bladder to stay nice and supple and never dry our and crack then all you have to do is every month or so take all the sheets off and get a small bottle of Extra Virgin Olive oil (vegetable oils will work well too), pour it out on the bed and then work it into the vinyl real good. Works best if you have a man help you. And, just to keep the laundry bill down (oil stains are tough to get out), you should be nekkid.

Well this conversation just got awkward...

In other news, they make vinyl protectants, you can get them at auto parts stores, just don't use Armor All

Oil has a higher flash point but it burns hot.

Vikingdad, quite teasing me like that. You KNOW I don't have anyone to help oil my waterbed mattress. That was just an out and out mean tease.

About the armor all? It dries out your dash and makes it crack.

I am beyond excited. The waterbed mattress and liner has just been delivered. I'm going to set it up right now. It's early enough in the day I just may be sleeping in my waterbed tonight. Though I must say I opened it very carefully because I had this moment of panic that in cutting open the box I would slash the new mattress. I am ecstatic.

*dances around the room the realizes I shouldn't be wasting time dancing and should get to setting up the waterbed*

Nice! Hey winds do you use that conditioner stuff yearly that your posta pour in the water? I think we only did it once or twice in like 10 years.

Hahaha.......no I don't use that stuff yearly. And I don't know why. It's incredibly simple to pour a bottle in once in a while and it's not expensive. I did notice when I opened the box containing the new mattress and liner that they sent me two bottles of conditioner free. I'll pour it in then it'll be good to go until the next time I need to replace the mattress in about 10 years. ROFL I don't really know what that stuff is supposed to do. I don't think it prolongs the life of the vinyl at all. I think it just is to 'bleach out' the water in the mattress. But I don't care what the heck is going on with the water in the mattress. It's IN THE MATTRESS.
