Well the Air Force was born out of the Army Air Corp in 1947, so there's that connection right there.

With the current wars the Army have been stretched to the limit and beyond. So they've started tasking different support jobs out to the Air Force (and Navy) to provide bodies for.

This isn't so much common in combat teams, but in support roles its becoming pretty common. Especially in joint task forces like Task Force Phoenix (the Task Force responsible for training the ANA/ANP in Afghanistan, I was a part of that.)

I prefer Agent Todd over Agent David, thank you very much.

Going to have to send the "post turtle" to those folks I know who voted for Prez Barry. Probably piss them off but that's tough s**t for them. They voted for change and that's all they're going to have left in their pockets after the Messiah is finished screwing things up and turning us into the United Socialist States of America.

Off work today. Woke up sicker than a dog. Doctor is still doing tests for that and the swarm of migraines I recently had. Didn't know how many ways the human body can be poked, prodded and generally punctured with every torture device medically devised. Told him at the last appointment that if he sticks his finger up my butt one more time I was going to fart and blow that finger off. It's hell getting old.....

Got a surprise Monday. Went to the store and when I returned, "Brown" left a sticky on my front door. My 2 cases of 7.62 x 39 from Classic Arms had arrived. Went down to the apartment rental office to pick them up. Now I don't have that expensive paperweight any more...because without ammunition, a gun is just that.

Wish they'd hurry up and "soft pickle" my current system. Spent the last 2 days on the one I'll be going to and enjoyed it. Closer to the chow hall so I won't have to make my damn lunch every day. One less thing to have to carry to the terminal for the plane ride. Not to mention that the lead tech doesn't "putter" and has his s**t together.

Missed the gun show last weekend. Migraines screw things up, dammit. Wanted to see if I could find some extra magazines for my old Sterling Mark II .380 because I want to use that as my concealed carry weapon. Not to mention that I'd like to see if I might be able to use it for the Corporate Challenge shooting competition next year. Hell, I'll probably stick with my Sig P226 .40 cal. It's probably a hell of a lot more accurate than the .380.

I wasn't even talkin' about the HORSE and assorted other units like that.

I was just referring to all of the ILO/JET taskings that "regular" Air Force has had to put up recently.

I'm pretty sure I'm one of the only Services E-4 and below that has earned an AFCAM. There are two of us in my unit, only the other one is an SSgt.

I can just "hear" the complaints to Metro again. One of their helicopters is circling around the neighborhood and it's 0430 hours on a Saturday morning. That's the breaks when you live in an area that gangs are starting to move in to. So far, their territory ends about ½ a mile to the north of me. Yet another reason I'm looking for a new apartment. Scared the hell out of some poor-a$$ed solicitor the other night. I went to the door with my Sig in hand (loaded...12 in the mag, one in the pipe) and when I opened it, the lady's eyes bugged out when she saw the Sig in my hand. She stammered for a second and then took off, leaving a pile of "circulars" on the ground in her wake. I usually ignore anyone knocking on my door at night but I was half asleep...but not asleep enough to go to the door unarmed.

OC'd in a local Mickey D's the other day. Had been at the range and on the way home, had a Big Mac attack. A couple who got out of a car with Kalifornia plates gave me an odd look but no one else seemed to notice or care. Hell Yeah for Nevada! Last time I OC'd in a Mickey D, I got into a discussion with a Metro motorcycle officer on the merits of Sig vs Glock (he carried a Glock).

Summer has finally arrived. All last week the daytime temps were barley in the upper 80s. Now they're starting to get back to "normal" for this time of the year, mid 90s and low 100s. Hot damn...literally.

Going to Discount Firearms this weekend to see what, if any, new items they've received. I'm thinking about maybe getting another semi or possibly a revolver. Nice thing about Nevada CCW, when you qualify with one revolver, ALL others are included. Unfortunately, you have to qualify with each different semi you want on the CCW. Oh, well...at least it's relatively easy to do so and not expensive.

Need to drive down to the farm today. But I varmint rifle has no scope

Need to also drive down to another place to find a new place to blast ground hogs.

The only bacon I had was a 5# brick that was frozen solid. It might be thawed by now because I filled the sink with HOT water and put it in there. I love bacon it is the meat of the gods.

One thing, though. I draw the line at bacon-flavored vodka (Seattle...you're sick......)...or any other bacon "flavored" item. Only one thing is bacon-flavored and that's bacon.

Again was awakened at 0230 hours by someone (or something) banging on my front door. Got up, dressed, grabbed my 4-D cell Maglite, holstered my Sig and went into the living room. Checked through the peephole and didn't see anyone there. No lights on in the apartment so I quietly unlocked the deadbolt, stood to the side of the door and opened it. Had my hand on the Sig just in case. Breezeway in this complex is well lighted so I looked out the door. Still no one in sight. Slowly walked out to the lawn and looked around. Still no one around. The parking lot is also well lighted and didn't seen anyone there, either. So, either it was some drunk dickwad thinking he was at his ex-something's apartment or some other idiot but no one was around. Needless to say, I couldn't go back to sleep so I'm sitting here typing away...with my Sig close at hand. Seeing as how I'm up so early, will probably will light off Ghost Recon (now that I've bought a mouse with a mousewheel so I can access other weapons because there wasn't a way in the game to use my marble mouse to do so.) or Ghost Recon 2 and try some of the missions on the HARD setting.

For the TRUE bacon gourmet, we have a small town here in VA called Smithfield. While many know of Smithfield Ham- where there is ham, there is also bacon. Thick cut, hickory smoked, coarse black pepper crusted. Along with some buttermilk biscuits, country eggs, Kona coffee, and depending on whether you are a Reb or Damnyankee, either grits or homefries.

Then- cause it's Sunday, and I don't have to be on a plane again until Monday- bring me a second cup of coffee- the Sunday paper- and wake me in time for lunch.
