would a ball , dropped in the pipe , come out the other side of the earth
Ball would accelerate as it dropped, until it reached termial velocity due to air friction. Up until reaching the center- would then begin to slow after it passed center. Would also be fighting air resistance in the pipe. Would not make it all the way to surface before stopping, dropping back, partway back up again, until finally came to a stop at center.

And melting down due to the extreme temperatures (guessed to be about 5500 C).

Cap off the pipe with a healthy powder charge, wait until the moon is on the other side for additional pull from gravity, and send it home. I feel like an astrophysicist. Maybe this is what they were actually doing in Switzerland.

Make the ball oblong, like a football, to reduce wind resistance.

Add lands and grooves to initiate a spiral flight.
