Man I love that stuff. You can hurt yourself on any shine lol. My brother makes shine from time to time. All you do to make it apple pie is add some apple cider and a cinnamon stick.

The concept of making its simple, the realities are not so much so. A bad batch can blind or kill you as quick as drinking rubbing alcohol. Even a good batch puts out bad shine before it pumps the good stuff and it looks exactly the same! Probably one of the few laws I mostly agree with when it comes to vice's- making distillates is for pro's, do it without a license, any you will become a Con quick enough...

Was looking at thestraightdope for info on blindness from moonshine, shagnasty is on there. Seems the blind part comes from wood alcohol.

Wood alcohol or methanol metabolizes in the body to make formic acid, not good on the human nervous system. So stick with grain or sugar to make your whiskey and whatever you do, don't use lead solder when you make your still, also not good.

Did you not see the picture of the Home Kitchen Still? I was planning on getting a small crockpot today. Hell with that... I'm getting the biggest one walmart has. And, incidentally, I have access to a bunch of copper line...

Cool, 'shine is the best whiskey going. Easy to make too, especially if you use sugar and go the white lightning route.

Yeah I didn't mean actually making the shine. Just the apple jack flavor. I should have made that a little more clear.
