I wouldn't mind that myself; i think coffins and plots are overpriced.

My dad died in September, I found a crematorium online that picked him up at the hospital where he died and I picked up the ashes a few days later. We are going to spread them at sea ourselves and not pay anybody anything to do it. There are lots of ways that the funeral industry has to take the money of the aggrieved and that pisses me off. We have had to deal with it more than once over the years, the first time was a lesson. That was my mother-in-law, my sister-in-law fell hook line and sinker for the sales pitch and despite our protests spent about $15K on what was supposed to be a pre-paid funeral Grrr. With the father-in-law (her father) my wife and I took over and did everything according to his wishes, which we determined in writing before he passed on.
