Sorry to hear that JD - but isn't that typical? "Welcome back and how was your vacation? Oh by the way..."
I don't regret starting my own business, although if I had known 10 years ago what would happen to the energy sector of the economy I probably would have applied for an FFL and opened a gunshop instead of an oil business. As bad as it gets however, it's still better than working for a bunch of effing Liberals...actually getting a job for a contractor in Afghanistan is starting to sound rather appealing...there are no season end dates as far as hunting on your day's off...and "game" is plentiful...
Just read "Lone Survivor" by Marcus Lutrell - if that doesn't excite the patriotic spirit nothing will.

Thanks guys - I am really not devestated by this in the least. I get to leave a job that was fun, but a boss who is a "first generation non speaky, no one can do it better than me, I am always right and you are always wrong" a-hole and I get to live off Obama's teet for a bit.
Not a bad trade in my book. Plus plenty of range time awaits.

At least they put a little thought into it. I got laid off with my wife in college and me as the sole bread winner. We've got some good things opening up for us now and none of it would have happen if I hadn't gotten laid off. The good Lord has taken care of us.
Enjoy the extra range time, I know I miss it now that I'm working again but I am thankful to have a job.

I suppose congrats are in order. I've gotten more done around my property since my lay-off. Plus it gives me time to help my folks. They aren't getting any younger, and pop just had neck surgery for the second time. Now, he has 4 verts fused instead of 2.
I try to do something constructive every day. Keeps the monotony at bay. For me, being out of work for the first time in 'bout 20 years let me see how long the day really is.

I have been wearing the same pair of Nike running shoes for the last 4 years and they are still in great shape

I have no experience with bow hunting, but if your just going to use it once in a while and its got a strong enough pull, I don't see anything wrong with getting it. Especially if your looking to just get the basics down first. Kind of like recommending a 22lr for a new gun owner instead of a Nighthawk 1911?
