I live in the north valley of California, so I haven't had to deal with a lot of snow. I just remember going to school and watching everyone drive 10 mph slower because of rain.

That'll give them a pucker factor of about 15 on a scale of 1 to 10...

Yep. 3" tread knobs on 35x95x16s mounted on a truck weighing 4200# has that effect I do believe......especially when its rolling towards you at 35 mph coming out of a 70 left hand curve

Being from and currently living in southern Mississippi, i don't often have to drive in snow. When i lived in Memphis, TN, there were some snowy occaisions but not too many. In the little FWD car (95 geo prizm/corolla) i had at the time, it wasn't tooo difficult but was unnerving. Now ice/frozen sleet/slush, that was different; that frozen crap basically shut down much of Memphis for about three days one winter. It was an interesting time; a buddy who had never driven stickshift bought one and learned with nooo problems due to the additional clutch provided by the ice; i called in sick for the week (government job); and i did have a few "OH CRAP I CAN'T STOP I'M GONNA DIE NO LET ME JUST BAIL OUT OF THE CAR" moments.

Now mud , i can drive through or on top of some serious mud. That is what we did for fun growing up down here. Heck, even my old VW bug did fine in the mud and shallow swamps.

It took the 2009 redesign of the Forester for me to be able to comfortably fit in one, but I love it. About to click over 70,000 miles - original tires still good! - and I expect to keep driving it another 150-200k. Winds, you should get one at the next opportunity.

My aunt and uncle bought an outback and had nothing but problems with it. They happily sold it at 60,000 miles.

My sister in law wrecked one at low speed and totaled it. Even the cop was surprised at the damage. The Ford she hit had a corner of a fender crumpled.

Only two examples, I know, but enough for me.
