I am deeply conflicted here. Bear vs. Illegalo, tough call, but you can't shoot illegalos.

I buy my eggs from a guy who raises chickens and sells the eggs. Here's the first egg out of the dozen I have that I cracked open to make a fried egg sandwich. I haven't seen a double yolker in a long time. Does anyone know if this egg would have hatched if fertile and would it have hatched twin chickens?

I know Lonyaeger raises chickens but he doesn't come here so much anymore. I'm sure someone here raises chickens.

Maybe it was to be a double-header, so to speak?

I have raised chickens for years (not right now though). I haven't bred them though. I have a hard time believing there would be enough room for two chicks to develop inside one egg though. It would also depend on whether both embryos (yolks) got fertilized I am sure.

I have gotten triple-yolk eggs as well and one time I got 5 yolks in one egg- that was a monster, actually killed the chicken that laid it. She blew her reproductive tract out her vent, and I don't figure we could have put her all back together again. The upside was that we had fresh homegrown chicken for dinner that night.

I have a hard time believing two chicks could develop in an egg, too. I've seen chicken eggs hatch and it's hard to believe one chick can fit in that egg.

I think standard procedure is for one embryo to eat the other, kinda like that Thunderdome thing in the MadMax movie.

They probably got the idea for the movie by thinking of double-yolk eggs I bet.
