When it is not skeeter season, I use a net hammock- weighs about 9 oz, rolls up to baseball size. But for wet weather, skeeters or blackflies, a JUNGLE Hammock! One like this is about $45.

I like it. I think I may get this instead of the tent.

I recommend it. For years that's all I used. I've told Cinder about how my cousin and I would take off into the woods for weeks on end in the summer, and that's what we used.

Several years ago when my father-in-law was still alive but unable to take care of himself I would call the phone company, power company or whatever in order to put his accounts in order and pose as him (having him sitting right next to me and also having all of the correct information and his blessing, etc.) and the person on the phone would say that I sounded quite young for an 80-some year old man. I just said that I got that a lot.

Not too long ago though I was doing the same thing for my 81-year-old mother and doing just fine (despite me having a deep baritone voice), but then mother said something on the phone and ruined it.

Also just a few weeks ago with mom I was talking to the SSA and the gal on the phone asked if mom had it on speaker phone (she cannot hear with her hearing aids unless it is on speaker). We went through some shennannigans, I left one phone in one room and mom in the other, then told the gal that she was not on speaker. She went through all of the BS in order to allow me to make the needed changes (and mom made her displeasure known), all the while with mom on speaker. Not only that but I was on another handset in another room. They never asked if there were other people on the line while she was talking, only concerned with the speaker phone. Stupid BS is all it is.

I think it's because his shifts are like, 3 weeks long. No going home at the end of the day for dinner and a good night's sleep with the wifey.

That makes things different. I just wake up, head to work then come back home when ever I'm dismissed basically. But not to a wife or girlfriend, just to my bed.

I definitely think I will be getting one, along with a few other military surplus things.
