I've used one as my office chair for 10+ years.

I would think any excess water would drain out.

I think it just times the water going in.

The machine stops filling when the water reaches a certain level. Would the water reach that level faster if there are clothes in the washer or if the washer is empty. I say the water will reach that level faster with clothes in the washer.

It might not even fill if it doesn't detect a load in the washer..

It will stop filling sooner with the clothes in there. They use a pressure switch to detect water level. The clothes, even tho absorbent, displace some of the water that WOULD have gone in there.

Assume tub holds 30 gallons. If the clothes have a volume of 2 gallons, it will quit filling when 28 gallons of water have entered the tub.

Imagine you are taking the washer's pulse- dig out the Minnie Mouse watch, and time two loads. Apply for a Federal grant for studying this invaluable method of saving millions of gallons of water a year, publish your findings.

Why is it that I wait days to water my plants and just when I feel the plants can't wait another day for water and I water them, it rains that night?

Why does orange juice taste so bad right after one brushes one's teeth?

Why does my Border Collie hate to go out in the rain to potty but if you turn on the hose he likes to snap at the water flow and get soaking wet in the process? And no, he's not afraid of storms so that's not it.

When my cats want to come in the house they stare in the window of the storm door. When I go to open the door to let them in, the run to the door and stop just short of coming into the house for a minute or so and I have to wait until they decide they are good and ready to come in. Why do they do that?
