It's been awhile since I hurt my pretty face. And I won't be hitting myself with a hammer any time soon.

I was at my daughter's place and there is a service that mows the lawns here for the duplexes. What is the advantages of one of those 'stand behind on a platform' mowers vs. a riding mower. Heck, I'd rather be sitting down on a riding mower rather than stand behind one for a couple hours. There has got to be an advantage that I don't know of.

I don't see a feasible usage, other than maybe fitting in small areas. That "stand" is a sulky as some people call it. They are dangerous. I would rather sit as well.

Why isn't phonetics spelled the way it sounds?

It's not a small area they were mowing. It's a whole darned subdivision of duplexes. There are no fences on the properties so there is endless stretches of lawn they mow. And man, do they have those things on high speed. It seems like they are mowing the lawn at 20 mph.

IIRC, the stand-up mowers are a bit more maneuverable than regular riding mowers (not ZTR). The other advantages would be increased visibility (of objects in the grass and of the mower to others). Also, some of us have back issues that make sitting for prolonged periods less comfortable than standing. http://www.turfmagazine.com/article-1894.aspx
Actually if you look into it, stand-up desks are considered by many to be more healthy. In fact, IIRC, most of the staff at Men's Health magazine converted to stand-ups after an article they did that illustrated a correlation between standing jobs and longer lifespans.

Have you ever used the word "phonetics" when spelling a word phonetically?
