Spring is not quite here yet in northwest Ohio,, snowing like crazy now with the wind howling like a banshee,, shovel city this afternoon,, I do remember S & H Green Stamps,, my mother saved the dickens out of them,, the hardware store in the small town in Ga. where I was raised accepted them at the time,, I got a little Zebco 202 rod and reel combo for my birthday one year.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong on the search option of this forum? When I try to search for something, I often get directed to the beginning of threads but not directly to the keyword. I have to roll through the thread and i'll give up

I think there's an option for "Show Threads" (default) or "Show Posts".

So, my parents are going to help me buy some tools for my graduation present, I need a good set of combination wrenches and 1/2" drive impact sockets, ranging from like 1/2" to 1 1/8" And metric from 12 to 30 maybe? Even with a 50% discount Snap on is ridiculous as far as price, but I want to buy good tools, any suggestions?

MAC usually has good tools ,, well used to anyways, and they were cheaper off the truck than SNAP,, usually about 15 to 20% better, but it has been a long time since I had to get new equipment, I assume they still run trucks.

I've seen them around where I'm from but not here, of course I haven't seen a single tool truck here....

Some Lowes stores have a decent selection of tools, I have seen some good brands in there, prices aren't bad, but you already know how high dollar good equipment can be and congrats on your upcoming graduation.

If you want snap on You should look on craigslist or in used places. They are guaranteed for life and you have to be filthy rich to afford them new.

My craftsman combination wrenches have held up great, I have had some proto impact sockets for a couple years and they have no signs of wear. I use them almost daily, I just have to change the roll pin in them occasionally (they are Allen sockets)
