I guess they don't. I wouldn't know because I don't rent movies (hell,I rarely watch TV!). But judging from the responses here I would say they ought to consider it!

Its just not in the US for some reason. In Australia they still make them, they call them "Utes". I own a 1964 Ranchero that was one of my first cars. When I was towing it home from up in Northern California we met an Aussie at a gas station who had been following us hoping we would pull over- he wanted to buy my Ranchero to export to Australia!

I would really dig it if they made "Utes" for the US market. What would be super cool is if they made one with a diesel hybrid powertrain. Like this, only as a Ute:
Quote:
TDI Hybrid

A VW Golf TDI Hybrid concept was shown at the March 2008 Geneva motor show.[18] The concept vehicle shown had a 74 horsepower (55 kW) three-cylinder TDI engine - probably the 1.4 litre used in the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion - mated to a 27 horsepower (20 kW) electric motor, and a seven-speed double-clutch DSG transmission. The electric power system is a Nickel-metal hydride battery in the boot, and a regenerative braking system. An "energy monitor" display on the dashboard keeps tabs on what the powertrain is doing, and provides both a stop/start capability and a full-electric mode at low speed. The design also includes concepts introduced via BlueMotion, with smaller grill and thinner low-resistance tyres. According to Germany's Auto Bild, the car will get 69.9 mpg, and emit 90 g/km of carbon dioxide, less than the 104 g/km emitted by the Toyota Prius and 116 emitted by the Honda Civic Hybrid.[19] The TDI Hybrid is expected to be marketed in Europe from mid-2009.[20]
A plug-in diesel hybrid would be perfect! Heck, if they even made a mini pickup truck that was a plug-in diesel hybrid that would be awesome, but the US auto makers do not want to sell small trucks in the US for some stupid reason. Ford discontinued the Ranger a couple of years ago- but only in the US market from what I understand. I don't think GM or Chrysler has had a mini-truck for awhile.

Seewaddeyemeen?
To be fair I was only joking -- we don't actually have TV but buy movies, not pornos, when we want one enough to see it, usually an older release, outside of a movie theater. Saw Star Trek - Into The Darkness on Monday -- that was OK. Won't buy it for 14 years or so though.

why do people buy 175.00 shotguns and spend 500.00 on accessories to weigh it down with stuff that can just snag on things?

in doing so, the makers of 175.00 shotguns get the idea that they are now popular and worth more because more people buy them, so they raise the price to 300.00. and people still buy them.
when will this consumer based world end?

ok, thats 2 questions......

It's the cool thing to do lol. I own 4 shotguns IIRC. A 870 super mag for turkey, it's factory camo. A Remington 1100 with skeet barrel in nice walnut, an old single shot Winchester 37a in 28 then a Rossi single shot 410 for my wife.

Would like to have an 18" bbl gun for HD work but would not hang stuff from it. Not big into that. On my AR there is a traditional scope. That's it. Personal taste is everything I suppose. To each his own. What I find attractive in a gun, you may hate and vice versa. I was raised in the old school methodology of firearms.

However I do not mind synthetic stocked rifles to be used over wood and blue steel. I am scared of banging them up.

Be humane man -- use something bigger on her when you have to, please!

How do you like the 28ga? That's on my list of things to get. Preferably in a pump or double barrel though.

Sadly, it's in disrepair. I need to drop it off at a gunsmith to have it fixed. I got it with a broken firing pin, and the stock has a crack, there is also a take down pin halfway out and stuck. It was free to me, just need to have it fixed.

Depending on what it costs to repair, it may end up being a pretty good deal.

Somebody's a recoil junkie.

I know a guy who owns a 10ga double. HUGE gun. Weighs a ton. IIRC, someone dared him to pull both triggers on it once.
