Because its a machine rental, instead of a human doing the work and inspecting/ cleaning it. Think about this when eating.

I understand it's a machine but why do the people feel the need to do go all CSI on the disk. I've got a PS3 that's on it's last leg and has turned into a damn diva, if there is any smudge on the disk it glitches like crazy.

Because it's not theirs, so they simply don't care.

Agreed

How do you prevent muzzle flip? Is it technique or a skill learned over time

Mostly technique (if you are talking handguns).

Look at a carpenter's hammer. The more handle there is above your hand, the more swing is available. The less handle between the peen and your hand, the less swing is available.

You want swing with a hammer, but not with a handgun.

Grab it as high as you can (even allow some of the gun to push in on the web of your hand). Have the barrel in line with the forearm so the forearm absorbs some of the recoil. Set your feet correctly. Lean into the firearm and let your body absorb the recoil (how many youtubes have you seen where the girl is leaning back while trying to fire a firearm?)
