What is a "dealer sample"? I heard it on a show and have seen it on this forum before but don't know the meaning. Enlighten please.

I'm guessing it's something that is sent to a dealer for them to try out (sample) for themselves, before they decide to buy a lot of them and sell them.

I could be wrong though.

Dealer Sample: A fully automatic firearm in the inventory of a machine gun dealer that was registered after May 1986. They may only be transferred to a law enforcment agency, the military, or another MG dealer.

But if you are the dealer, you can shoot it while you own it.

What type of scope is this? (sorry, don't have access to a better pic. Just found this looking around online.) Why does it look so odd? Is it just an old scope?

Old Scopes looked like that, yes. The sniper Scopes used in Vietnam were similar. What kind, and a year of manufacture, no idea, but I'm pretty sure no one makes them like that anymore.
