The floats typically don't go bad.

Cold water helps keep the lead from going into suspension, dissolved into a compound, or being adsorbed (one "b"). The surfactants in the cold water will irrigate away the more solidified lead particulates better. The same is usually true for greases...

Because hot water opens the pores.

Sources of lead when shooting-
(1) Handling exposed lead bullets, and not washing your hands with soap and water before eating, smoking, drinking or applying makeup (guys- that includes chapstick)
(2) Inhaling airborne lead. This can come from lead vaporized from bullet on firing, lead spatter from hitting a hard backstop- but MOST comes from the primer (lead azide)
(3) Ingestion- not washing face and hands after shooting- then eating finger food (Big mac, large fry)

Um- BTW, I teach lead safety in construction, folks. And I keep a bottle of water and a hotel bottle of shampoo in my range bag. Couple of drops of shampoo on DRY hands, rub it around good, attention to nails, THEN add a splash of water, lather up, then rinse.

Ammo labeled NT is non-toxic- no exposed lead bullet, non-lead primer. Shooting indoor range? Should feel air moving from behind you towards target. AWAY from your breathing zone.

Due to SERIOUS effects of lead on unborn child, shooting would not be a recommended activity for pregnant people.

The rest of you- go wash your hands!
After shooting, I always wash my hands and face. Then I also blow my nose.

About a year ago I was selected for a TSA "explosive" screening...
They patted my hands and patted around my carry on...no issues, but I was trying to think of the last time I discharged a firearm...
Are they looking for anything that could be triggered by a day at the range?

Hot water opens the pores. Cold water closes them.

Edit: (1, 2, 3, 4, ... Guess it's unanimous!)

That seems to be the general opinion in the forum. I suspect that my daughter will be too busy with moving to Oklahoma City to do much of any shooting this summer. It's not just moving day, it's watching her other two kids, setting up the home, etc. Baby is due in August, I think.

Here's my question: who's gonna tell Trip I can't last 9 months without going shooting?

Same or us. Will be busy moving towns away and she doesn't shoot without me. I plan on riding from may 23-23 to July 10-17 if possible. Baby due in November. I'm to broke to shoot at the moment anyhow lol.
